Greetings from Howard Colorado…Hi friends, Happy Hollerdaze. Here's a handfull of shows and a few new old guitars to round out the year. I'll be cruising hwy 50 from stem to stern playing solo and with several bands:
The Milo Hayes Meld
features Charlie Milo on 6 string Bass and Michael Hawkins on keys. I add electric Guitar, Mando and Steel. A true meld of funk, rock, bluegrass, and Hippy Hoppy.
Ragged Mountain Bluegrass has a stellar new lineup. Dwayne Dodson on Guitar, Chris Hudson on the dog house…

Greetings from Howard Colorado…We're back and you know what that means...do you really? If so LEMME NO. Wurking on a new computer so peas excuse any hippos. And a great Spring it was...celebrated my b'day jamming with buds at Camp Out for the Cause in BV - great festival, well organized, beautiful spot, not unlike Meadowgrass, another great fest where I got to play solo and with Milo Hayes Meld (see pic) who have recorded four songs and released this ol' chestnut on Soundcloud:

Greetings from Howard Colorado… Much has come to pass since we last addressed this list back in November. Welcome to the age of crazy. We just produced a show at the historical Coaldale Schoolhouse with Grant Gordy and Ross Martin (see pic by Ben Knight). They are taking the flat-picking guitar duo to new heights! Great turnout. Hope to see y'all again for Jeff Black on 3/23, and Don Richmond, April 15. Had a Helluva good time opening for David Lindley in Denver - very greasy indeed. Love that man. Check…

Hayes' Gits & Gigs Winter Quarterly 2016

Greetings from Howard Colorado… Take solace in the knowledge that this is not another Black (hole) Small Business (hands) Cyber (attack) Giving (you a headache) correspondence. This is merely a quasi-quarterly endorsement of all things musical pertaining to one Bruce Hayes. However, 2 for 1 on all CD and Cassette purchases till the end of the year! Sorry, couldn't resist.
2016 is setting all kinds of records for the number of famous musicians who have done crossed…

Greetings from Howard Colorado… As I implode through life I try to avoid all the trappings of professionalism that one might encounter in another artist's newsletter. Gits & Gigs arrives in your inbox at random moments such as this affording a level of surprise and intrigue. Bereft of fancy formating, this stark enews contains no added coloring or flavoring and no preservatives to protect it's impermanence save for your still viable memory. Suffice that a few good gigs have gone…

Greetings from Howard Colorado… June was the busiest month in sometime, only to be rivaled by July. Salida's whitewater festival, Fibark was a blast. I sat in with Peter Rowan and Taarka (see pic) and managed to grab my Tele for a couple tunes with Robert Randolph. Rapidgrass Bluegrass fest was spectacular as well. I assumed the roll of "Kernel Tweener" playing mini sets betwixt the main acts that included my Mandolin Mentor David Grisman pictured here holding "Crusher":

There's more great times on…

Greetings from Howard Colorado…
This month's photo below was taken Saturday by Meghan Buzan at Bluegrass on the River in Salida. The Bassist is my old pal, Dennis "DJ" Jung of Aspen. We started playing together 35 years ago. Both new to Colorado, we formed a band, Scott Pole & the Headplants, and have played with semi-regular abandon ever since...and that's Henry working on his G chord. We had a great set. Thanks to everyone there. Speaking of semi-regular, I'll be doing a couple weekly gigs this month…

Greetings from Howard Colorado… Spring salutations, Winter farewell. There goes Henry down his favorite run. Bye bye...

...and I'm off to jam with Justin Allison in prep for tomorrow's concert in Coaldale...a bit of Jazz Brazilian style. It may be snowing but we'll serve up some hot chocolate with the hot licks. Here's the cherry on top:

Greetings from Howard Colorado…We are kicking off the Gnu Year with a few concert-like shows in great spaces. The beautiful new F Street Gallery will host a solo acoustic evening this Saturday. I'll be bringing Free The Honey, those Songbirds of CB, over for a combined show in the historic Coaldale Schoolhouse. Then I'll be heading down Ridgway way for an evening in Chipeta's Kiva, one of the coolest performance spaces ever. This will be my first official show since it's grand opening many moons ago. This…

Greetings from Howard Colorado… This weekend marks the 10th anniversary of my first December Birthdays Bash at the Thunderbird, a celebration for several prominant figures in Florissant including bar owner Russ, and handyman Dave. Traditionally the event begins with a potluck featuring several prominant figures in Florissant including Bear, Elk, and Heffalump. Then several prominant figures from the regional Rhythm & Blues scene take the stage to jam the night away. This year's lineup, dubbed the Hatfield…
